What to Expect Before, During, & After IPL Treatment

Prior to your IPL treatment, our team will perform a comprehensive consultation with you to ensure we understand your needs, goals, and medical history. Using our expertise, we’ll then create an IPL treatment plan for you that gets you your ideal results!

Before

Prior to your treatment, we ask that you avoid sensitizing agents like chemical exfoliants and vitamin A derivatives, as well as minimize sun exposure. We’ll give you thorough prep instructions during your consultation!

During

During your treatment, we’ll start by cleansing your skin, covering your eyes with protective shields or goggles, and applying ultrasound gel to prevent discomfort. Then, we’ll select your settings based on your skin type and proceed with your treatment. The procedure may take 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the areas being treated.

After

After an IPL treatment, your skin may feel warm, and if necessary, we can use an ice roller. To further reduce redness and protect your skin, we’ll end your treatment with our top-selling Intensive Recovery Cream and mineral SPF. It’s typical to experience sensations akin to a mild sunburn, including warmth, redness, and swelling, following an IPL treatment. This is normal and should dissipate within a few days. For optimal recovery, we recommend that you use SPF daily and avoid retinoids and harsh exfoliants one week post-treatment.
